Upgrade Notes For v760

The following steps are required before updating to version 760 of Sysdig Monitor:

1. Upgrade Elasticsearch:

Get all Elasticsearch deployments with:

kubectl get deployments --namespace sysdigcloud | grep elasticsearch

For each deployment update the container image and check the cluster status before continuing to next deployment.

  • Update the image:

kubectl set image deployment/sysdigcloud-elasticsearch-<N> elasticsearch=quay.io/sysdig/elasticsearch: --namespace sysdigcloud

  •  Check the cluster status:

Get a new POD_ID using:

kubectl get pods --namespace=sysdigcloud | grep elasticsearch

Check status with the POD_ID:

kubectl --namespace sysdigcloud exec -it <POD_ID> -- bash -c 'curl -sS http://$(hostname -i):9200/_cluster/health?pretty=true'

  "cluster_name" : "sysdigcloud",
  "status" : "green",
  "timed_out" : false,
  "number_of_nodes" : 3,
  "number_of_data_nodes" : 3,
  "active_primary_shards" : 32,
  "active_shards" : 65,
  "relocating_shards" : 0,
  "initializing_shards" : 0,
  "unassigned_shards" : 0,
  "delayed_unassigned_shards" : 0,
  "number_of_pending_tasks" : 0,
  "number_of_in_flight_fetch" : 0,
  "task_max_waiting_in_queue_millis" : 0,
  "active_shards_percent_as_number" : 100.0

Make sure that the cluster status is green and the number of nodes reported is equal to the number of deployed elasticsearch nodes before continuing.

2. Edit Config Map:

Edit the configmap with:

kubectl edit configmap/sysdigcloud-config --namespace sysdigcloud

Change the value of the property sysdigcloud.captures.cassandra.storage from false to true.

3. Update Sysdig Monitor (v760):

kubectl set image deployment/sysdigcloud-api api=quay.io/sysdig/sysdigcloud-backend:760 --namespace sysdigcloud

kubectl set image deployment/sysdigcloud-collector collector=quay.io/sysdig/sysdigcloud-backend:760 --namespace sysdigcloud

kubectl set image deployment/sysdigcloud-worker worker=quay.io/sysdig/sysdigcloud-backend:760 --namespace sysdigcloud
